Such s great place. There is a great team, committed with the comunity and clients service. Every day, I see restored people around because their ministry. We are so proud to be partners with RH, a wonderful christian ministry with a lovely staff. May God keep blessing you.
"My" story goes all the way back to the early beginnings of RH. Way back to the summer of 1979! You see I didn't have a drug or alcohol problem. I had a ''sin" problem, a big one!! I was the ripe old age of 22 and just finished doing 18 months of a 3 year sentence at a rehabilitation center in Hollywood, Fl. I had only 18 months of probation left to do on a 3 year sentence. 1 1/2 in & 1 1/2 out. I had a violent problem I inhareted from my late father who grew up on the streets of the Bronx, New York. After my probation officer dropped me off in Little Havanna, with only $5 bucks in my pocket and a suitcase, I found myself wandering the streets looking for an address someone give me where I might find some work. The address was 968 N.W. 2nd st. I had absolutely no idea where it was since I was from the S.W. Kendall area. So I ended up walking all the way from Riverside Dr. & 2nd st. to the harbor & back! So this part of town was completely foreign to me. After going up and down the streets I was so hot and tired that I sat down for a nap in what used to be a tennis park that just happened to be directly across from RH! But I had no idea of this. It was a hot, late August afternoon, but by now a light rain was beginning to fall. So here I was, hot, tierd and lost. So I started to pray to God, "please" help me. But I was so tired that I laid back on my suitcase for a nap. And just as I was falling asleep, I heard a voice inside of me say "look up, your redemption draws near!" Just as I sat up I heard someone calling out my old nickname. "Starsky, Starsky, is that you Starsky?" As I looked, I saw two men who were in the rehab/detention center in Hollywood, ( FL ) with me! Well, to make a long Story short, the asst. director was a Jewish christian who ended up witnessing to me, since I'm Jewish, out of Isaiah 53, and then gave me his big bible to read the crucifixion story as I walked to the church's kitchen for a dinner and then came back to talk to him. His name was Burt Rosen. Well, to make a long story even longer, he gave me a bed, then a room for $50. a month. Five months later I got a job miraculously at Victoria Hospital which paid for the room on New Year's day, 1980! But on the night of August 27th 1979 I prayed to the only way to God. He showed me Jesus on a cross in the darkness of that small room that night. And the next morning I new that I was a new creation in Yeshua Ha Meshiach!! Jesus the Messiah. Praise His holy name!! May the Lord continue to bless this ministry for another 35 years!!! In Christ's holly love, Your brother, Mr.Alan Masarsky
